@manton Brilliant work. Let me see how I can adapt my customised comments script into a proper plug-in.
@yorrike Thanks! That does sound like something that would be cool packaged as a plug-in. Let me know if I can help.
@manton Great idea! Can’t wait to see what the community comes up with. Sadly my coding skills are close to zero, so can’t join in on the fun, except as a user.
@manton Been looking forward to this and super pleased with how you’ve chosen to implement plugins!
@manton great idea. Is there a thought given to a centralized place to share ideas / completed plugins that people could share?
@manton This is an exciting development. Thank you. I look forward to seeing what comes out of this.
@stevesnider We'll maintain a plug-in directory on Micro.blog. Currently you have to email me to add a plug-in, but as we get more plug-ins submitted I'll make it easier. Might be useful to have a community site as well.
@Miraz @stevesnider Yeah, @custom could be great for that! Our directory is just a list of plug-ins. A blog like custom.micro.blog can handle a much greater range of topics... Tutorials, links, and anything theme-related that doesn't fit neatly into a plug-in.
@manton this is awesome news. Is there a place we can see the currently available plugins? I can't seem to find a link to them in your post it in the help page.
@manton I'd really like for @custom to be much more open, with others participating and to be the central place for anything related to customising Micro.Blog. I'd also be happy to not be the sole owner of it (or even the owner at all). At the time I just saw a need, and that I could help with that need, so dived in. Please feel free to adapt / incorporate / spinoff / whatever in a way that best assists Micro.Blog.
@manton Will do. As I was writing it I kept thinking “this would be so much easier if I could call a little template for the comment HTML”, so I’ll see what I can do.
@manton this is great! Would be fun to see the awesome On This Day implemented as a plugin.
@manton Awesome addition! Specifying the photos category has been something I’ve been hoping to do for some time. Thank you for this!
@jthingelstad I can build this. Would you want any posts on that day or specifically photos or not something that complex?
@manton this is great! Somebody please make a “subscribe by email” plugin! (Ok, that probably takes more customization than a plugin...)
@manton or @macgenie Bug? Posts I write today don't appear on ctwardy.micro.blog. My post "Rapid Reviews: COVID-19" exists under my "Posts" button, but it's not on my timeline nor in my archive, nor cross-posted to Twitter as usual. Possibly I'm missing something obvious. I've edited/posted it both from your Mac client and the site.
@manton Congrats on the launch! The ‘Posts’ label in the navigation has probably been stretched to it’s fullest now, any thoughts about relabling this item?
@paulrobertlloyd Yes, I've thought about renaming it Manage or Admin. I've also thought about redesigning the navigation to move some of the other sections (Pages, Uploads...) up to the top. Not sure yet.
@manton oooh... this is very cool news. Need to scratch off some old design skills to play with this (hooray for test sites)
@manton quick feed back... after installing a plugin, should the results under “Find Plugin” show that the plugin is already installed (apologies if this was asked previously)?
I need to take a few days off and dedicate to this... can see a few possibilities
@manton and other m.b code ninjas: how about a plugin to allow changes to colors and fonts on a particular theme? Possible?
@LTG Possible. It might need to be theme-specific, but a plug-in could have settings for various colors, etc.
@jsonbecker @manton i love the new plugins. thanks for making them!
another plugin idea: bigfoot footnotes. arabica theme already has them built in. It'd be cool to have a plugin to make bigfoot work on any theme
@LTG I’ve seen them around the internet before but never did it myself. I’ll look over the next couple of days.
@LTG ok I lied I looked at this now and it’ll be a piece of cake. I’ll make this plug in tomorrow.
@LTG I'm done. I emailed Manton to get it listed, but you can grab it off Github now if you want.
