100 Days, Day 004

Micro.blog, and the state of the internet. My internet.

Special thanks to @manton, for all the work he’s done, is doing and hopefully will do to keep Micro.blog special.

@maique I think you’re exactly right about the community here at Micro.blog. I was a very early user of Twitter, way back before the days of the fail whale. I deleted my account in early 2015 because the atmosphere had changed but I didn’t stay away long. I’ve never really taken to Instagram as a community. I do use Facebook for family and friend connections, and I limit my friends list to people I know personally.

The online community that was most like Micro.blog was App.net. I was sad to see that experiment die. But I’m quite happy to be a part of the community here.

@manton Don’t mention it. You deserve all of that, and more.

@maique My smile got bigger as I read this. I can’t remember how I found Micro.blog 18 months/2 years ago, but I know that it has been a joy to be here. A wonderful community more than ably supported by @manton (I don’t know how he finds the time for the support, updates, etc) and @macgenie. I now blog more often and look forward to reading and appreciate the community that I have here.

@maique I’m new here, and this post crystallized for me what exactly I find so refreshing about this place. It feels similar to communities that were around in the transition to Web 2.0 back in the mid-00s.

@crossingthethreshold It’s great to see we’re all doing the same, each in its own way 😊 Thank you for reading.

@cm Glad you find it so. No likes and no re-whatever and none of that makes the difference.

@maique @manton is the most concerned product developer I’ve ever met. He’s always keen to help and give micro.blog new features.

@hollyhoneychurch I’ve been calling my wife movieStar for as long as I can remember, nowadays a lot people just refer to her by that name, and she started using it herself on Instagram! So it felt natural that the little one should keep her mother’s name 😂

@hollyhoneychurch I hadn’t even noticed yet, but she even added a “tinyMovieStar mum” to her profile! 😂😂
