First step of adding country code as emoji flags to tinylytics 😃
@vincent Whatever you want works... I have to check on the iPhone though, the first emoji on your reply is not available on my old laptop... 😅
@vincent the one thing that would be super useful for me is if i am logged in, for tinylitics not to register my own visits to the sites.
@maique The onion emoji was added in Emoji 12.0 in 2019. 🧅
I find it interesting how so many more objects in our everyday lives do not have emojis yet!
@nertzy Thanks. The onion one shows up on my laptop. The one Vincent is using (fake glasses and mustache) does not. That's a newer one...
I do agree with you, a lot of things are still emojiless. I use them all the time, and miss a ton of stuff.
@maique Oops! Ah, now the “secret” comment makes way more sense. 😂
I was excited when they finally added olive 🫒 in 2020 because it is the name of one of the computers I use at work.
@nertzy Hahahahaha 🙂 My laptop (roadie) will never get an emoji, but I’d still love to see some added for common items I had to my grocery list every week.
@vincent Funny... Just booted Kali for a while, and was surprised to see emoji working here. I guess it's just a fresher version, but makes me wonder why is Apple keeping me from using the latest emoji, on an older OS version...
@maique I would call that financial incentive on Apple’s part. Why upgrade older OS’s when you can sell new machines? Clever really.
@vincent Might be clever, but kinda shitty from a user's perspective. I've been spending more and more time over here on Linux, I might even get it on an SSD, as before...
@maique yep, totally with you. I was looking at my perfectly capable laptop (minus keyboard) just a few minutes ago. It’s beautiful. And it breaks my heart to know that next year it won’t be getting the OS upgrades. And I don’t want to spend money on something that has a notch 🤣
@vincent Curious. The last OS you can upgrade it to will be supported for a while, right? I knew of several PCs still running Windows XP and only recently did MSFT drop support.
@pratik so the last OS I think I’ll be able to upgrade to is Sonoma, but that’s it. Everything stops afterwards. I believe my machine is the only model year that will support it (Intel and such). Yes, it’ll get security updates, but that’s it after it had its run. It’s a shame really. No new features or anything… even though it’s a good machine.
I guess just everything seems to get more complex as time moves on. Xcode used to open so quick for me… now it takes ages. And for what good?
@vincent That’s always a trade-off, right? What if the new feature requires a more advanced chip (Apple Silicon v. Intel)? Should it not introduce that feature to anyone because some users are still on older machines?
@pratik Yeah I guess. I just look at my beautiful machine, which brings me much joy to use (minus keyboard) and know that in 2 years it will probably miss out on stuff.
