I knew I needed my own instance 😇
@maique Is this the open web equivalent of Facebook users running to Twitter when the former goes down?
@pimoore For low budget hosting true, but when lack of recent backups started being discussed, I decided it’d be best to stop listening 😀
@pimoore And to be clear, no ill feelings or anything. We pay almost nothing for this and I set expectations accordingly.
@mcg I had to stop listening too as soon as the DB backups were mentioned… 🤔 Plus my kiddo walked into the room.
@mcg Yeah, same here. Oh well, good learning curve for him. I couldn't livestream this stuff though.
@mcg Haha. Social.lol is down so I go to see what’s up on Micro.blog and find an old co-worker taking about the same outage.
@maique 😅 but if I had my own instance I’d be the one stressing about keeping it operational
@zoglesby Wow. Small world. I was confused a bit because I worked with a Zach at my current place, but he left earlier this year.
@jeannie 😃👍 I’ve been toying with the idea of self hosting, but seeing how much of a commitment it can be, I’ve decided against it.
@vincent I have close to no idea, truth be told. And everyone agrees this is not an easy one. That’s one of the reasons I went the masto.host way when I tried it.
Just woke up, I see all of you had a busy night watching the broadcast. Happy to see it’s back up.
How’s the kid?
@JohnPhilpin masto.host took care of everything 🙂
@maique thankyou - you got in under the bar ... currently all options are 'temporarily unavailable' ... that said $6 a month is too high for 'just playing around' - which is all I am doing ... what is your domain?
@JohnPhilpin Sorry for the confusion. I had an instance there in the past, not now. I’m considering doing it again but, as you say, registrations are closed now. They should open up again this week. Some time to see if I’m willing to pay that. It’s not the cheapest thing, true.
