I received this electronic sticker by email today. My first vote in a US Presidential Election since becoming a US citizen in 2022. The Hawaii Primaries.

@lukemperez Thank you. Yes it does. I was sitting on the sidelines for a decade. I might have had an opinion, but I could do little about it - donation? Yes, money always gratefully received. Volunteer? Yes, help always gratefully received. But no voting. Now I can 🙂

@crossingthethreshold Congrats! That’s exciting. No matter how exasperated I get, I still value the vote.

My first vote in 1978 was a “yes” on a referendum about whether restaurants could serve “liquor by the drink” (instead of bringing bottles in brown bags) in Orange County, NC. 😏

@crossingthethreshold I love voting. We used to make a party of it when the kids were young; they set up mock voting booths for children and of course everybody got a sticker. Also my state runs elections every year, which is unusual.
