I have a test blog on WordPress.com, so I temporarily upgraded it to test Jetpack in ChatGPT. Here’s a transcript. Do people want this? I’ve avoided building this because I don’t think we should encourage non-human writing on Micro.blog. It could be useful in some cases, though, for dictation.
@manton while I do use AI for writing some of my posts, I would not want this. That is a recipe for AI slop. My AI writing uses careful prompting and several AI and human review passes.
@AlexKucera That’s my thinking too. I use AI mostly for editing. I can see the value in starting drafts, though, or maybe creating private notes.
@manton I use ChatGPT (or the new Siri) to proof read but that’s it. I don’t want either creating a post for me. I would wager that anyone using dictation to create a post already has a setup or work flow for it.
@philbowell Much the same here - I find Ai can be a valuable sub-editor. But I make all the changes myself. And I enjoy writing – why would I let an AI take that away from me?
@manton It doesn’t seem like a good fit for Micro.blog proper. What I’d do is make sure there’s enough of an API surface that would anyone else to build this, should they wish to. That way, you’re taking the middle ground of not encouraging others to use it, while at the same time not prevent from others who absolutely want it to build it themselves.
@manton as a customer, I would not want it.
@manton I use Codex for my Ghost blogs to setup the posts for me (paste the text, headline, have it suggest tags) but I wouldn’t use it to write the posts for me.
