I’m really excited about audio narration on my blog. I recently did some corporate training and really appreciated audio narration options for most written content. I also suspect reading my own posts aloud will improve my writing.

@jsonbecker Thanks! It's true about reading something out load. While I was reading that post I noticed some things I wanted to change, but they were minor so I didn't end up re-doing it.
@manton ooh. Can we get the audio upload on the Posts/Edit page in addition to the new post page? I would love to go back and narrate some of my posts.
@jsonbecker Yes, I'd like to add that. In the meantime, you can upload audio on the Uploads page and use the Copy HTML button to paste in the audio tag for an edited post. The only difference is that when using the new post form, Micro.blog automatically hides the audio tag with CSS.
@manton @jsonbecker To clarify: existing posts will get the audio player after the addition, via edit, of a manually uploaded file?
@SimonWoods @jsonbecker Yes. Also there are really two audio players now: the small play button that is new (limited to a handful of themes so far) and the default OS player with full audio controls, rewind, etc. I prefer the full player hidden for narration posts.
@manton yeah I just went ahead and dropped the code into my custom theme since my narration posts will always be written as well.
available to everyone starting today, even at the standard $5 plan.
oh interesting - thank you - I had been assuming that this was all for the premium customers - will give it a whirl.
It raises an eternal personal MB question as to what fits in which plan - which I know we kinda have - but also 'why'.
In other words - In my mind I had native audio fully in $10 - but apparently not. How are lines drawn?
@JohnPhilpin Podcast hosting was the very first feature for Micro.blog Premium, but now it does a bunch more, and I wanted more people to use this new audio support. If it gets confusing, maybe we’ll make podcasting available to everyone.
@manton thank you for clarity.
BTW - love that final para ...
this feature isn’t actually about what is possible. This feature is a statement: we make things for humans, so they can make the web a little better. Along the way there will be plenty to automate, plenty of AI tools that will be important shortcuts, but we’re not going to lose our voice.
