A dilemma of micro blog - is it a blog, is it an Instagram, is it a Twitter?
@alexsavin I would describe it as a social messaging service (Twitter) combined with a Jekyll based blogging system.
@khurtwilliams I would disagree with the order of that, because of where the revenue stream is. It's primarly a blogging system. Scratch that. Micro.blog is primarily an excellent online journaling system with a social element to it.
@kaa I don't have a micor.blog blog. I am responding to this message in the same I would use Twitter. How does the revenue stream change the functionality?
@khurtwilliams The revenue part is important because it helps define the core. What allows you to do everything else...in this case supporting the social element of the service, which is a very important aspect, otherwise it would just be a web hosting service, which it is not.
@kaa why are we talking about revenue? Twitter has revenue. The conversion is about the original question. My original answer is still correct.
@khurtwilliams we are ‘arguing’ semantics here. I just wanted to be anal and put the blogging/journaling element first when describing the service, but yeah your description is just fine.
@alexsavin it is whatever you want it to be ... in my case a simple blogging system that inspires me to realize that I don’t have to ponder big things before I post something .... and those posts can push out to a range of different social triggers and sites, so I can write once - use many ... and finally it allows for engagement not just for my microblog entries but all the other places I put stuff that routes back to my stream here ... and yes ... in that order ....
