I’m being told demos and unboxing are compulsory. Will find out in 10 minutes!

@caseyliss I managed to sign up for a demo this afternoon and am excited to try it out! I’m not buying one (yet?) so this should be fun

@caseyliss Wow. That seems extreme. Unfortunately you are not able to tell anyone that have already had a demo.

@caseyliss they want to make sure you got the right size for everything, because Apple Store employees are building the kits and they can fix it in the store if there’s an issue

@caseyliss I just picked mine up. They brought out a demo unit to do the fit check, but I didn’t actually have to do the demo.

@caseyliss just checked in for my pickup, and they asked if I wanted one, but didn’t indicate that it was compulsory.

@caseyliss In our store demo was optional but they were strongly encouraging it so they could practice. In my case it was good they did because they were clearly still working out the kinks

Demo was presented as compulsory, but if you are steadfast you can opt out.

Fit check was compulsory, but it’s done with a demo unit.

I left the store with my AVP box still sealed

@caseyliss I’m imagining them politely but very firmly insisting in on the demo, and you pulling a, “Do you know who I am?” on them.

@caseyliss Oddly enough, in Houston neither was compulsory. I did opt for the demo and fit check but neither worked out. The store couldn’t accommodate my Rx. I left with a sealed box and UPS won’t bring my lenses until 7PM.

@caseyliss they need to release that 2:30 immersive video they show during the demo that acts as a trailer for the longer ones. What a fantastic video that would be to show family and friends.

@caseyliss The demo is done on a demo unit too. I did the demo, it was great. Still went home with a sealed box.

@caseyliss yea, I confirmed it’s on the in store demo units only. Kinda a bummer. It was a huge wow moment for me during the fitting, and a great little video to show someone who just wants to try it out quick.

I have NEVER had quite the emotional response to a physical object before. People, maybe… pets, definitely… my daughter obviously. But a gadget.

When the demo was complete - I was agog. I felt like for a few minutes… I had slipped into the future.

Quite literally, Apple at its finest. The Mac Pro might have been aspirational … the AVP is their “Halo”.

@caseyliss it’s not really “still sealed” in the factory sense. They fill the box in store after the fit check and seal it up.

@keegsands AFAIK normal panoramas work; haven’t tried a 360 yet.
