What’s your favorite markdown editor on macOS?
@kalikambo I’ve used Ulysses a lot but for pure Markdown, iA Writer is great. I know a bunch of people love Obsidian too.
@kalikambo @manton I recently discovered Paper and am loving it. It is not cheap though. But since I started using it my writing output tripled.
@kalikambo iA Writer, from a writing perspective (premium price, gorgeous and useful), and from a free perspective there is BBEdit, which after 30 days of trial becomes a free, and very capable “Lite” version of itself.

I’ve been using for almost all my writing for years. The other app I use regularly is Drafts.
@manton Thanks! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Obsidian. It’s on my list to check out. 🙂
@briandigital Thanks!
@robertk @manton @AlexKucera @briandigital It just occurred to me that Day One includes markdown formatting, and I already use that app. So I will play around there, too. 😄
@kalikambo Day One works well. However, as far as I remember it doesn’t work with external files. So if you don’t mind working within Day One’s database system, you should be ok.
@AlexKucera Thanks! I’m thinking of it as a simple place to draft posts, and then copy & paste to somewhere else to finalize and publish.
@kalikambo Not sure if it will fit what you are wanting it for, but for me Notion has been a big help. Also for my old hugo blog I maintain I use Visual Studio Code.
