I’ve currently been binge watching Yellowstone. Great show so far even though nothing could be farther away from my life as the mountains of Montana and all the horses.

@kaa Big fan of Yellowstone; I won’t spoil anything or skew how you see it, but I’ll be curious to hear what you think in later seasons.

You might like Longmire if you enjoy Yellowstone.

@kaa Yellowstone is outstanding. Of course you now need to add "Lawmen: Bassreeves", "1923", and "1883" to get the full Taylor Sheridan Western experience. His other shows are fun also "Landman", "Mayor of Kingstown", "Tulsa King", and "Special Ops: Lioness" . With more to come, new season of 1923 starts in a couple weeks also.

@timapple Yeah, he's a name I've heard a lot (Landman is the next on my list I think), but he does seem to be everywhere! But this feels like a few years ago when @JohnPhilpin gave a list of everything to listen to after you've finished with some Steve Wilson stuff :). Saved for future reference, thanks!

@kaa lol..yeah it is a lot. And more to come, he's pretty prolific. You will have to throw in some cheery stuff in-between, most of the stuff is dismal, but good.

@timapple TIL that the wonderful ‘Landman’ is in the same family tree as the ‘meh’ ‘Yellowstone’ 🤯

I know I know .. and I only watched the first two episodes and Jax turned to me at the end and said .. so …’Dallas in the countryside’. I just couldn’t continue then - and haven’t since. Prolly need to go back and watch it by myself - but that is a big commitment .. particularly when you get to spin offs like 1823(?) which is on my list regardless .. even more good things said about that.

And I’m even a fan of Kevin ( though episode 1 of the new 4 parter I haven’t yet got round to..

But yes … Landman 💯

@kaa wow .. glad that helped - he has a new one coming out in March .. back to his roots - 1 album. 2 twenty minute plus tracks .. overall theme … ‘the overview effect’ .. I think that’s even the name of the album .. and yes ‘THAT’ Overview Effect.

Also interesting - and typical of contrarian Wilson- no social media previews

He’s going on tour with it - first city in U.S.A. is San Francisco.

@JohnPhilpin wasn’t on my radar, but definitely is now. Out of curiosity, how do you typically stay ahead of what music is coming out?

@kaa These days around NEW music - it is getting harder and harder, but roughly speaking ...

1) I read all kinds of sources and it is almost at random i discover new - and old - stuff

2) For someone like Wilson - he is just someone I keep an eye on - because of who he is and how he fits into my 'world view' of music. So he pops into various feeds - which I note. He is also a good source of other people - a lot of my music has always been informed by what people I like are listening to and performing with - eg - the new 'BEAT' with Levin et al - saw me disappear into the back catalogue of Adrian Belew - who of course I knew of - but someone like that - (Jeff Beck is another) - performs with all kinds of people - that makes me in turn explore them.

3) I have a couple of very good friends who have connected tastes - so if i see them listening to things on Apple Music - I will check it out.

4) Every now and then I see something interesting here on Micro Blog and follow through.

5) A music producing friend in Australia sends me stuff.

Etc etc ... nd yes - all pretty much random.
