@kaa I'll take a look at this book. I'm worried about how much money I need to spend to get the right stuff...
@jtr it’s a really good question. Not sure where you are on your coffee journey? What equipment do you have at the moment?
@kaa you could say I'm on the "verge" or the "edge" (depends on your perspective) of going beyond the basics. At this point I have a Brevelle espresso machines (grinder and steamer included), a pour over (Chemex), and the regular Mr. Coffee. I get my beans in a local roaster and grind them at home, I also have a separate grinder. I make coffee for me and my partners, but I'm the "coffee snob" as they like to call me 😅.
@jtr Ha, so I’m on a slightly different trajectory. I’ve got a v60, AeroPress, CoffeeJack, French Press and used to have an Oxo coldbrew but apart from the Coffeejack haven’t really ventured into the espresso world. The book has a pretty large section about this going into a lot of detail but James is surprisingly downbeat about this method of production…
@kaa Since I’m a huge fan of Hoffmann’s work I’ll probably buy this book anyway, even though I’m already brewing coffee successfully at home. Hopefully the book is the only thing that ends up costing me. ;)
@jasonekratz thanks! It’s not a theme, it’s my own custom design, which I’ve been working on since 2018, tweaking things as I go along.
@jasonekratz scales? Seems to me a cheap brewer, good grinder (hand cheaper than machine), scales and good water/beans is what you need. Everything else extrapolates from there :).
