No internet based network is whole. What I miss from Instagram is the output from visual artists. What I miss about Twitter are the writers, architects, companies, that offer their thoughts, ideas and news. What I get from Micro.blog is interacting with people.
@kaa I can’t tell if you are just stating facts or lamenting (The Internet: where people cannot read tone ;-) ). If it’s the latter, I would argue that, to a certain extent, it is not necessarily a bad thing that everyone is not in the same place. The existing social networks tend to force us to flatten ourselves, to be all facets of our identity to everyone, at all times, which is just not natural and not good for anything but those networks’ bottom lines.
On the other hand, if you’re referring to some networks having the people you want but others having the culture or behaviors you want, I’m very sympathetic to that; I’d like to have every network or place I interact on the Internet to have both people I want to interact with and a safe and sane culture of interaction (case in point: all of my I-know-you-from-real-life friends are on Facebook only, but places like Micro.blog and various old-school forums have both interesting people and good interaction culture)…
@smokey its the second :). I know it's not possible to have everyone here and I certainly don't want to keep dipping my toe over there (there being Instagram and Twitter), but I guess that's just the reality at the moment.
But the value I get from Micro.blog is decidedly different. It's more random, but imagine that it will settle down after a while as it becomes more established.
