In June 2022 we had a 19-hour power cut and @jean suggested a small portable generator.

Now, 2 years later I've finally bought a Yeti 200x Portable Power Station from Goal Zero.

Screenshot shows devices the Yeti can power, including 18 recharges of a smartphone. Packaging shows the Yeti generator.

Up in Northland some homes are without power days after a pylon fell over: Northland power cuts.

@Miraz hope it helps. Over here in NYC we don't have this issue, but we have plenty of others

@jtr Thanks. Luckily we have a woodburner for warmth and we can also cook on there at a pinch. This gadget will charge phones and computers.

@Miraz, have you considered getting a small (50w) solar panel for recharging? You don't have to buy the Goal Zero brand. www.amazon.com.au/Goupchn-C... would let you connect a different brand of solar panel as MC4 connectors are standard. You would bre to make sure the panel's open circuit voltage is between 13-22V (what the 200x supports). I used a similar setup with a Jackery 160 at a 7-day camp this summer successfully.

@Vittorino Thanks for that information. We're considering a small solar panel as a next step.
