I still can’t wrap my head around the Apple developer news about so-called mini apps. Is this to capture 15% from web apps instead of the 0% Apple currently gets? Or is this an actual discount that will encourage more developers to turn native apps into mini apps?

@manton the age verification API thing feels like it would be opening the doors to adult content that’s age verified but taking an Apple tax– which would be smart and huge business, but it’s also not what they’re doing.

@jsonbecker Good point, maybe that is a long-term plan they have.

@manton Maybe it also has something to do with more direct payment integrations, so e-commerce services might (in theory) add Apple payments, even when those would cost 15% of the sales prices. 15% is a lot of money in most cases, but if the payment experience is much less confusing, it might work.

@manton I think the plan is to get mini-apps, which are more specifc and easier for “AI” Siri to call and interface with
