I uploaded a very short 21-second demo video to YouTube, showing the Mac app’s updated character counter for posts with block quotes. Same behavior across all platforms as described in this announcement post.

@manton since I don't use the web part that much I don't think I ever noticed the embed button. Pretty nice!

@jsonbecker agree, lack of using web hides all kinds of things that would be nice … I am still trying to work out what the extension Twitter cards does for me … installed it last time I was there .. can see no difference to my life.

@JohnPhilpin it just changes the format on Twitter itself by adding some meta data that Twitter uses to make embedded links fancier. For example, this tweet has the card look for the link. If there was a image, it should/would appear as well. https://twitter.com/jsonbecker/status/1629710550220390401?s=46&t=BKx8UOVixb_kU-c0jEbKWA

@jsonbecker aahh that explains it .. Thankyou … and just went to twitter … and now will disable the plugin … I think what I really want is a generic version of th embed/ twitter … so it appears ‘pretty’ on microblog, mastodon, tumblr, Wordpress … oh .. and I guess Facebook and Twitter.

@JohnPhilpin Open Graph and Twitter cards, are, collectively, the thing that makes links work on most of the web. The actual content when cross posting from Micro.blog is much more in MB's control. As for linking to you, the embed that Manton provides on the web timeline generates standard HTML with the content. Anyone using that would get their own blockquote styling, but with the quoteback class, can get nicer styling in their control if they wish.

@manton I'm currently planning the launch of a video series about Micro.blog, something along the lines of what I'm currently doing for Craft Docs. You can have a look here. Curious to get your feedback on this.
