Is there an iOS app similar to macOS' MarsEdit that will work with micro.blog? Looking for an app that is more suited to longer posts.

@shep Two good text editors that work well with Mb, iAWriter and Ulysses, my current choice, you can post to MB directly from those apps. Drafts would also do the trick, is just gets a little trickier when adding images between text.

@Gaby Thank you! I'll check out Ulysses.

@shep I’ll second @Gaby and suggest Ulysses for longer posts with photos. Wonderfully integrated.

@shep agree. Ulysses is very good for this

@Mandalorian @shep @maique It is subscription based, I guess it comes down to how much value brings to you. For someone that uses it every single day, worth it. And that includes all versions of the app, Mac, iPad and iPhone

@Mandalorian I’m with @Gaby on this one. It depends on how much you get from it, and if you think that it’s worth the subscription fee. For me, now, it is. @shep

@mandalorian @shep Thirding what @maique and @gaby mentioned, Ulysses’ workflow for any form of posting — long or short, with or without photos — is so smooth with Micro.blog. Highly recommended if it matches what you’re looking for, and well worth the subscription. Also actively developed, and they even blog about writing workflows.

@shep I think you need to let @danielpunkass know that you want MarsEdit on iOS 😋 No pressure Daniel.

@Gaby How do you use iAWriter with micro.blog? I'm using it for another site, but that is a WordPress one (not mine) and I just copy/paste Markdown into it and finish the job there. (They use WP CMS for photos).

@tsmyther I haven't been using iA Writer for a while, but you should be able to add your Micro.blog account to it just like Wordpress. If I am not mistaken, for photos, iA will upload them to Micro.blog 4B2739FA-848E-4A98-B790-1963005C79D3.jpg

@tsmyther What @gaby said about iA Writer. I have bounced between iA & Ulysses, currently on a iA streak.

iA Writer will post a draft to your Micro.blog account, taking the file name as the title of the post (you can delete it before publishing the draft). You can add photos via iA’s Content Block feature, or if you have previously uploaded the image, the URL of the image.

@shep although I know of nothing else that "manages" existing posts, both iAWriter and Ulysses can be used to publish to Micro.blog. I use iAWriter when writing longer posts on the go.

@shep I use IA Writer on my iPad, it doesn't have much in common with MarsEdit, but it works a treat.

@Gaby

includes all versions of the app, Mac, iPad and iPhone

meaning that if you don't own a Mac, $50/yr is just too expensive. I typically start with suggestions that assume no budget. Ulysses seems a great app, but a bit of overkill for someone starting out or with a hobby blog (no plans for monetization). Ulysses is a pro app, clearly, meant for people who at least earn some cash from their writing.
