Took the new-to-me Honda Element in to get checked out and the cost for a bunch of random fixes is a little mind-boggling. It’s got 127k miles and I thought maybe I could push it to 250k… Now I’m starting to doubt. 💰

@manton I don’t know what your list of fixes was, but was it just deferred maintenance that won’t repeat often?

I hope you get the longevity you wanted.

@amd Thanks. The car was well maintained. It’s a mix of stuff that isn’t likely to break again, hopefully.

@manton my experience with used cars is that they tend to have a lot of maintenance needs built up when you get them but if it’s a good model, it’s totally worth it to do up front.

Unless it’s a German car. Then you will throw money into that black hole until the heat death of the universe or until you can sell someone else on the dream.

@manton I always wanted an Element. Too bad they retired the line. I see them all over the place in San Diego.
