@manton This is interesting. If I upload a mp4 video to my own WordPress blog using micro.blog app on mac os, Version 1.8.1 (61), it uploads a jpg file or rather it changes the extension to jpg, it doesn’t play on the blog, but if I download it and switch the extension back it plays on mac. Not use if I should be able to upload video to self-hosted blog or if it is WordPress that changes extension?

@johnjohnston Upload to WordPress is almost completely untested since we’ve been focused on Micro.blog hosting. I’ll look into whether we can improve this.

@johnjohnston @manton FWIW, I uploaded this video with the iOS v1.6.1 to my WordPress blog and it went fine (at least as far as being a video with the correct extension), but it was also a .mov rather than a .mp4, in the event that’s a factor. I’ll try to check 1.6.2 in the afternoon.

@manton thanks @Manton in light of @smokey’s comment I tried iOS video .MOV with same result.

@johnjohnston @manton Oh, what am I thinking; I said right there that I used Sunlit for that video post (which didn’t get an update yesterday; that must have been how I confused myself). So maybe Sunlit is a work-around in the meantime, as long as you’re not trying to upload videos whose source was a Live Photo?

That said, I wonder if this is another instance of the old Micro.blog bug where .png files would get uploaded with a .jpg extension?
