I feel mini communities of people in micro blog beginning to form … seems to be around people and who they know from elsewhere rather than topics of interest - if that makes sense … anyone else feeling that?

@JohnPhilpin One of my reasons for joining Micro.Blog was to find a new community. I may be one of those rare few who doesn’t have anyone here from other networks. I kinda like that.

@JohnPhilpin I haven’t noticed that. But micro blog people are all new to me. There isn’t any overlap from my IRL friends or Twitter.

@JohnPhilpin I'm not noticing that, but then unless there is someone hiding out there who I have not found yet, there is no one here from other networks that I have been on.

@JohnPhilpin Like others, I came here not knowing a soul in person. I’ve come to think of several folks here as “Internet friends,” or at least digital neighbors. But I’ve also felt, well, extraneous when I’ve tried to engage other folks who seem to know one another well.

@JohnPhilpin I knew no one here when I joined.

In fact, I kinda glossed over the fact that MB had it's own community. I was focused on getting a micro blog and using it to snark on Twitter. I made a test post and @kitt and @smokey welcomed me within seconds. My first thought was: rutrouh, now what do I do? :-)

@pratik @johnphilpin same, was all new to me. I keep being delighted when someone I know joins. In the meantime, new peeps yay!

@JohnPhilpin et al., when I first started, I felt certain I could convince a good number of internet friends to join us at Micro.blog. But then a magical thing happened: because my timeline wasn't full of people I already knew, I could focus on new people and a new community. Now I consider it a blessing that I didn't replicate my Twitter timeline here! (Even though I'm slowly working on those folks still...)

@bradenslen Huh, you must have had a very interesting first post or bio, because I am seldom driving the welcome wagon :o

@JohnPhilpin that is an interesting thought. I don’t feel part of a particular mini community. I do feel able to add my two pence worth generally if I am as thoughtful as I can be. I also really enjoy reading even when I don’t respond. The folk here & lack of public favs and reposts keep it relaxed for me. I write a lot of posts in my head that don’t get posted.

you could always form a little micro-community here with emojis for discovery, loosely organize around that, but I have to agree. I like meeting new people
