@PhoneBoy Where do replies go? I knew the system was not what I was looking for when I signed up. I'm much more interested in a centralized place for casual conversations. I coudln't even figure out a way to follow you from the iOS app. I had to go to the web to find you and follow. Not made for me. Alas.

@PhoneBoy And, I replied to this post but don't see the reply whey I look at the conversation in the iOS app. My reply doesn't count as part of the conversatoin? I don't understand the point.

@PhoneBoy Ah. I did not see the spyglass icon. I still see no replies when I look at the conversation. I also replied to @larand and no conversation shows up there. Just the root posts. I'm baffled. But, not surprised.

@PhoneBoy @joanna Replies are evolving, but we built it that way because most people don't want replies on their main blog. However, it supports Webmention for including replies on external blogs (e.g. WordPress comments) and for @-mentions from other sites. See this help page for more details.

@manton Thnaks, Manton. I'm still wishing you and this system much luck but it's just not meant for me in its current state. I am missing your podcast with the updates on what's happening around here. // @phoneboy

@manton A week and a half in, I think my biggest daily complaint is that you cannot see/find a conversation via the original post nor via your reply to it (the former both on Micro.blog web and in iOS, the latter in iOS only; it works on the web via the timestamp link). You have to find someone else's reply to see the conversation :-(

@PhoneBoy I wrote a post filter to support auto-linking for WordPress blogs: https://micro.blog/smokey/260663

@PhoneBoy There are good arguments for that approach, but I think it's more consistent to let the server handle the auto-linking. This is automatic for Micro.blog-hosted sites. I'm hesitant to bake too much into the client because it limits being able to switch to other blog clients. (Agreed about replies! You can get them from the API but it should be easier.)

@smokey Yeah, we really need to fix this. I'm bumping up the priority on it yet again.

@smokey @PhoneBoy I swear I just followed a link like that in the client the other day and it worked fine, but here is the full link.

@PhoneBoy Thanks, we can consider a setting for it. Maybe something that is only shown for WordPress blogs.

@colinwalker Thanks. Doing my bit to help out (and also to save myself a bunch of link-composition typing, especially on iOS ;-) )
