@manton I like the 1:1:1 assumption. It keeps things simple and reflects how Micro.blog is not looking to create its own all-encompassing silo.
@cdevroe It looks like that username was accidentally created several months ago from a Webmention gone wrong. I've removed it.
@manton Very cool! This is a great first step in making RSS understandable to a new generation of Internet users, breaking down the divide between technology and people, and helping to make the open web as easy to use as the silos. 👏
I’ve looked at my friend’s blog, but for some reason Micro.blog isn’t showing the newest 3 posts, even though they’re in her feed?

Never mind, they’ve shown up now with a refresh of the M.b “profile” page. Still strange they didn’t show up initially, as they’re not super-new posts (a few days old, and several months old)….
@smokey In some cases I’ve noticed it can take longer than expected to grab all the initial posts. (Also, thanks!)
@manton This is excellent, thank you! I reconfigured my existing WordPress blog to use the ultra-short fgte.ch domain name in anticipation of something like this. I need to do more work to fully enable IndieWeb features...
@manton 👍 love this, not perhaps for all the feeds I follow, having a favourite selection will be great.

This sounds like such a great feature, and one I’ve been wanting since micro.blog first launched.
Keep up the good work Manton!
@manton It just seemed strange it was fetching posts from the end of the feed to the start, since it happened with my blog, too :-)
Also, are the site details saved permanently when a site is first looked up, or are they cached for a certain time? I’ve changed my site icon URL in an attempt to fix/work-around what I assume was an issue with the original relative URL (link \[…\] href="favicon.ico"
which became micro.blog/discover/favicon.ico
), but subsequent accesses of the M.b “profile” page still show the same broken image. Neither the original bad translation nor the “caching” are a big issue since I’m here “for real”, just edge cases FYI. (Which also leads me to ponder what happens when a site changes its feed URL, especially if it doesn’t set up a redirect. The perils of a QA brain ;-) )
@manton Great idea. I am having a little trouble with it though. I subscribed to some about ten hours ago, and have not seen any articles.
These show “Posts for this user are still being downloaded”: @appleinsider.com, @news.ycombinator.com
@johnbrayton It had trouble discovering the RSS feeds for those. I fixed them, but there is still something odd about the Hacker News one that isn't working.
@johnbrayton It just takes a while for some feeds to load; I assume the performance can be improved with further updates. Apple Insider appears to be there now.
@manton Thsi is a great new feature and a great start! I do hope eventually it can be extended to specific feed URL's and such, maybe even for folks without their own domains. But this is still a great upgrade. I hope this continues to push the whole web to more Indiweb style communication/social network-like interactions and such. Anyway thanks I''ve already got a bunch of blogs I want to start following this way!
@manton Thanks. I subscribed to news.ycombinator.com only as an experiment. I don’t intend to stay subscribed to it, so don’t worry about that particular feed on my account.
