just canceled ~ $70 of subscriptions. That felt really good.
@pratik the biggest was YouTube premium (family) ā $30 a month!! And that one might lead to a revolt, weāll see.
Others: kindle unlimited, audible, Disney plus, a food tracking app, Brit box, jackbox game subscription
I donāt listen to audiobooks enough to make audible worthwhile. I have a backlog as it is..
Recently switched to books-a-trillion.com for ebooks so donāt need kindle u (and happy to get away from it)
@Annie I justified YouTube premium by canceling my spotify and switching to music.youtube.com, which is a wash for my personal subscription. YouTube ads are worth getting rid of for me, and I am really enjoying the breadth of alternative news, (political, technical, hobby, music, film, etc.)
@Annie congrats! Weāve employed a āone-in, one-outā rule for subscriptions for awhile, and itās worked out pretty well for us, especially when it comes to entertainment options.
@pratik THIS. Libby and Hoopla are fantastic apps. And some libraries, including the Austin Public Library, allow access to their digital catalogs for a very reasonable annual fee.
@cliffordbeshers this is a bit of an experiment, as the ads are (to me) terrible to suffer through. Iām kind of testing how much we all use YT as a household. the premium might come back if the outcry is desperate enough
@Annie At this point, my only subscription streaming anything is Apple Music, which I use heavily and often. I do have access to a family memberās BritBox and, I think, Amazon Prime Video (I donāt have an Amazon account, either). Being single, I also donāt have anyone to answer to as far as why I donāt have said services. š
@Annie Congratulations! Iām also constantly cutting subscriptions at the moment. I donāt really use most of them. Most of the time I just wanted to secure a lower price.
@jessekelber I dream of this, lol. The kids all have their favorite shows on different platforms. of course, once theyāre moved out and itās down to just me I might not be as eager to cut down as I feel now.
@ner3y feels good! Had a few that I wanted for a particular reason but now no longer need. Itās nice to cut the clutter (and save some money)
@Annie You never knowā¦š
