@jeroensangers I think I read that tip in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People or another book of that era (the 80’s) and have kept that habit for decades, maybe not an hour a day, but a couple of hours a week. I think the quote was “Read one hour a week about your industry and your learning more that 80% of your competition”

Used to subscribe to print restaurant trade journals and publications, which morphed into e-mail newsletters and blogs. I still get 2 or 3 periodicals.

@jeroensangers The other book was In Search of Excellence - might have read the quote in there. I had that one highlighted and dog eared, then lent it to an associate. Have the Kindle edition now.
