Looking for a headshot-style photo, it’s surprisingly hard to find something good in my photo library that doesn’t have other people in the photo. Maybe I need to take more selfies.

@manton Or get a pro photographer to do a headshot photo shoot. Wouldn’t cost much or take long, and is very likely to give you a better photo than you’d be able to take yourself. Main problem is likely to be scheduling it.

@manton I bought a $30 package on Groupon a few years ago, got my best suit out, and drove 30 minutes to a baby-supply store to get some studio photos taken. I might do that once every 5 years or so just to have something suitable for LinkedIn or a conference speakers page.

@manton There are probably a ton of amateur photographers like me, that would be more than happy to try to take your portrait. They get someone who wants to get photographed (quite difficult to find sometimes), time to experiment a bit, and you get a free portrait (win-win)
