@amit Psych shares a sensibility and feel of its fellow USA Network “Blue Sky” shows. Monk and White Collar were favorites of mine. I’m not sure which are streaming where, but if you can’t find those others with that shared sensibility include, Suits, Royal Pains, Covert Affairs, Burn Notice, and In Plain Sight.
@amit Our favorite new show is Stumptown (via Hulu or broadcast on ABC). Fun, clever private investigator show that feels a little like Veronica Mars meets Justified.
@kordumb I have been searching for Monk at all places to stream. Can't find it at any place. It is available on Prime Video in US, but not outside I guess. I see that White Collar is available. I will give it a try.
I have seen few seasons of Suits. Polictics in drama got tiring after some time. Anyway, thank you for all those recommendations 👍🏼
@amit Darn. That one may be too new to be available yet. Oh! How about Terriers? It’s definitely in the same family and is a lot of fun.
@amit Not a police show, but my go-to series to recommend to everyone is Doc Martin. The Cornwall coastal setting will induce wanderlust, I'm afraid.
@macgenie Yeah, am through all the available seasons of Doc Martin - and if I remember correctly, it was on your recommendation. It was fun and I fell in love with the coastal town and all the people! 👍🏽🙂
@alans Nope, kind find that either. Sigh. Anyway have started watching White Collar. Looks nice.
@seishonagon I would really love to catch Monk. May be I will check if it is for buy or rent somewhere.
@kordumb @amit Burn Notice is such a hoot. We’re making our way through Bones on Amazon Prime. They also have the original Murder She Wrote which has held up quite well.
@macgenie Have you watched The Detectorists? I feel it’s in a similar vein to Doc Martin and it’s really lovely.
@Cheri Bones is great, very close to what we were looking for. We are already through a couple of seasons. Murder She Wrote looks brilliant -- however, can't find it anywhere for streaming.
@amit Not really in the same genre, but I have this urge to binge watch the old "The Avengers" TV series. It's not too serious although the Honor Blackman episodes are more Cold War and edgy. Amazon Prime has them in the US.
@macgenie @omrrc That is one of my favourite series ever. Everything about it is subtle, warm and humane. Just hearing the theme tune relaxes me. The relationships between the characters are beautifully drawn, and it is a love letter to the English countryside. There are so many perfect unspoken moments in it too.
@bradenslen I’ve always wanted to watch Avengers, but never gotten around to it. I didn’t know Honor Blackman was in a main actress in Avengers. I thought Diana Rigg were the only reoccurring female. Blackman passed away just the other day.
@odd The Honor Blackman episodes were all shot on very early video tape so the visual quality was poor and continued to degade over time. The tapes from the period before Blackman are all lost. I don't think the Blackman years got much air time outside of the UK. The Blackman episodes are harder edged more serious and Cold War, they are sort of spies after all. The Rigg years are excellent but a bit less edgy.
You can't go wrong starting with the Rigg episodes and go from there, then loop back around and watch the Blackman episodes. Likewise, you can just start from the beginning with Blackman and see how the series and characters progress.
The Avengers is a series that gets progressively more surreal with each season which is kinda neat to see happen. I think you will enjoy it if you give it a try.
