@davecaolo Interesting perspective. Because Rhoneisms is a mix of "toot" style short posts, images, and medium-to-long essays, I tend to use the app for the short stuff and post directly to my WP hosted site for the long stuff.
@patrickrhone Huh, neat. I was just noticing how browser vs. app was affecting my response to the service and wanted to write it down while it was fresh in my head.
I'm digging Micro.blog so far. At first I had that panic of, “Aaaah! I don't know anyone here!" But now it's become an opportunity to almost shake the Etch-a Sketch and start again. It's refreshing in that way. And like I said, it's compelling me to write blog posts again.
@davecaolo You could set up a subdomain for your microposts. We really encourage you using your own domain, so that you truly own your content. Also, you can create a new Page and call it About. That would be displayed instead of your default About, and which would give you the opportunity to use Markdown to link to your other internet homes!
We have been talking about some kind of Microblogging Academy, and your questions are helping me clarify what we need to teach!
@macgenie Very cool, thanks so much!
@davecaolo PS. I like the Etch-A-Sketch metaphor. Once I learned how Micro.blog was going to be different from Twitter, I learned how to enjoy it on its own merits. If I had managed to recreate my Twitter experience here, I would have not had the bandwidth to meet a whole bunch of new interesting, creative, funny, feisty folks.
@macgenie "Recreate my Twitter experience" is precisely what I don't want to do. It's been fun to think of this as a new crowd and experience.
@davecaolo And yet, some feature requests seem to seek just that. Strokes for folks, I suppose.
@macgenie oh yes! I want to join in but have so many questions. I did google and find that I can use my Squarespace blog with micro.blog
@Cassinato Wow, there's a blast from the past. Thanks for the kind words.
@macgenie I think a microblog academy would be super helpful. 👍🏻 The twitter drama has given me the motivation to dive into microblog more than I had previously but I’m sure there are things I’m not fully utilizing with the service. I’m guessing lots of people feel the same and could greatly benefit from some training.
