Whew, that quake started with a sharp jolt and a very loud crack then gave us a really good shake. I even considered getting up and going outside but it stopped before I needed to. 〰️

It was very close to us and not that deep really. I would have placed it closer to an M5 than 4.4. All good.

@Miraz I didn't know NZ had so many earthquakes until I started reading your blog.

@cheribaker Heh heh. Yes. Loads. I don’t even mention all of them. It’s about 20,000 a year over the whole country (https://www.geonet.org.nz/earthquake/statistics_long). We’re on the boundary of two plates and also have a lot of fault lines. See www.geonet.org.nz/earthquak…
