A huge (and hugely overdue) batch of Micro.blog stickers got shipped off today.

If you want a sticker, send your name and mailing address to jean@micro.blog. I’m fresh out but should be getting some more soon. āļø

Stack of addressed and stamped brown Kraft paper envelopes with a Micro.blog sticker and a handwritten note ā€œThanks for microblogging!ā€

@jean This is such a cool idea! I’m still wondering where to put mine. Laptop? Notebook? Water bottle?

@jean Questions:

  1. What do you call a (paying) user of microāˆ™blog?
  2. Is there a generic avatar image for new users that reflects this user of microāˆ™blog, in case they haven’t gotten around to uploading an avatar image?

@otaviocc Yes! (And I appreciate the implication that I am organized enough to know who has already gotten them. 🤣)

@renevanbelzen It depends. I would call everyone who has a subscription to Micro.blog hosting a customer. If they participate in the social aspect, I call them community members. I avoid the word ā€œuserā€.

When someone hasn’t uploaded a profile image, they appear as a solid light gray circle. But some people never upload a profile image, if their blog theme doesn’t use one, so it doesn’t mean they are new.

@jean Thanks for the explanation. Other (free) platforms try to wiggle their way into one’s privacy while maintaining a dispassionate attitude that befits produce (sheeple) rather than human beings. I suppose that goes with being on the spectrum (Asperger syndrome), bad work/life balance, and sleep deprivation, which massive companies seem to prefer/promote for their knowledge workers.
