(Incoming boring and uninventive first post) Hello, micro.world! I’ll share science stuff and some of my hobbies every now and then here. Hobbies include games (board, RPG, video), TV shows, tech, traveling. Follow me if you want to check it out! And unfollow me if you find my posts boring. See you!

@iPabloSB Hello Pablo, and a belated welcome to our corner of the internet. We put together a special page with tips for using Micro.blog, finding people to follow, and what makes it different from other blogging and social media services. welcome.micro.blog

I think you'll find quite a few folks here who share your interests!

@jean thanks for the warm welcome! I’ve been delaying blogging for way too long. I’ve tried a few times starting with Wordpress but never found the strength to finally do it. There’s something about the simplicity of Micro.blog that drew me and I finally got the courage to start!

@iPabloSB A lot of us here aspired to a regular blogging practice, but never got it to stick until Micro.blog. I’m so glad I have my own blog now, and don’t rely on social media as an outlet for things I like to post about.

@jean Something I really like is that I feel like I can publish something long if I want, but if I wanted to share some quick thoughts I don’t need to go to Twitter or Mastodon to do it. It is all part of the blog. And I can still send it to my Mastodon for a wider reach.

@iPabloSB the killer feature would now be to have reactions on Mastodon or Twitter to appear as comments under the blog post/thought! @jean

@rmdes i think it might be hard from twitter, considering they decided to set their API on fire, but I could see it for Mastodon, and it could be great. Specially for people that would like to reply but they’re not on Micro.blog and don’t want to open an account just for that.

@iPabloSB Welcome! Yes, the joy of Micro.Blog is in writing for oneself. Say what you want to say. Make your own history of your interests over time. And know that others will quietly enjoy your writing.

@agilelisa I love that there’s no social anxiety in the form of likes, reposts, followers, reads and so on. I can just write and there’s no need to know how many people interacted and if it became viral. It’s very soothing, more akin to journaling.
