Steller’s Jay on the snag. This winter has been good for corvids in our neighborhood. Pinyon Jays are regulars, and we have a small number of Scrub Jays. Ravens are a given. And we have at least a pair of Clark’s nutcrackers, a bird I’d never heard of until I moved here.

@cliffordbeshers Steller’s jay is my personal favorite. When I moved here from the East Coast, it was the first new bird I learned to recognize in my new home.

@jean @cliffordbeshers Steller's Jays are one of my favorites too. I used to enjoy feeding them whole peanuts at the homestead.

@cliffordbeshers Love them! Here on the east coast our only jays are bluejays, gorgeous birds. I've always enjoyed my few trips to CA to see scrub jays, Steller's etc.

@dejus @jean My neighbor likes them more than the Pinyon jays, because the Steller's are quiet and solitary. The Pinyons flock and talk and eat and eat and talk and eat and flock and talk...
