I’ve worn barefoot shoes (zero drop and wide toe box) almost exclusively for a month. Wore “normal” boots for two days in a row—Sunday and Monday,—and my feet ached so bad both of those evenings.

@Kalena My feet have been so happy since my doctor introduced me to minimal footwear. Vivobarefoot and Xero are my favorites.

@jean @Kalena My feet have recently been complaining more than they used to. I must check these out.

@jean Why do you like those shoes? I'm curious, but not sure if I would try a pair yet.

@jean I love Xero shoes! Sadly they don't work well in cold, snowy conditions. When the weather is good, I wouldn't do without them.

@jean I’ve been wearing them probably about 60% of the time up until last month. Went all in, and I didn’t really realize the difference until I wore something else! I like Splay and Groundies! Want to try some Vivobarefoot, though. They have some great options!

@artkavanagh Biggest difference for me has been my feet don’t ache at all at the end of the day. Which is huge. There’s lots of great options out there. My two faves so far are Splay and Groundies.

@Kalena I bought some Xero shoes exclusively for trail running. I ended up loving them so much, I now wear them in just about every other context.

@Kalena @jean very curious about why you two switched to them. I've heard positive things but am nervous/skeptical to dive in myself.

@jean I’ve worn ‘barefoot’ shoes for 5-6 years as well. Started with New Balance Minimus but feels like they’ve really scaled back that product line. Also liked Merrell’s barefoot shoes but they’ve started adding more arch into them in recent years.

@Kalena @artkavanaugh @Alligator @JMaxB @brandontreb @mindofaaronw @johnchandler The NW Foot & Ankle website has a ton of resources on Dr. Ray McClanahan’s natural approach to foot health. There are some fascinating studies about how typical shoes deform our feet. I haven’t had any foot issues since I switched and I have more flexibility and independent movement of my toes. 😊

@brandontreb That’s awesome. I purchased some Splay Freestyle shoes a year or so ago to kind of get a feel for if I’d like barefoot shoes. They quickly became my go-tos. Just so comfortable.

@mindofaaronw I was intrigued by the information I found about how “normal” shoes shape our feet and the health benefits of foot-shaped feet. This website has loooooots of info, articles, and of course, reviews.

@jean Late seeing this, but you’re welcome. I’m hoping to get a new pair of sandals for Spring/Summer soon myself!
