I’m thinking I’m going to stop cross-posting to Mastodon also, since my site already has an instance. If you want to follow that instance, here you go: @skoobz@skoo.bz

@skoobz I’m leaning toward this as well. But I do want to keep popping into Mastodon to see what’s happening. (And indulging my craving to like posts, which never went away 100%, even though I am happy not having them here.)
@jean This is about what I post. For example, my random sports rants will probably go straight to Mastodon, as to not clutter my site with them. Basically, fleeting thoughts, since I have Mastodon delete posts after two weeks. Otherwise, I run a Drafts action which posts both to my site and to Day One. Both are searchable, which I use from time to time.
@skoobz I treat my blog on micro.blog as my single source of truth so to say.
I post everything there and just replicate it elsewhere. I did automatically cross-post to my mastodon account before, but switched to just boosting the blog using it’s ActivityPub address like you do.
I do the same with my other Fediverse accounts.
This way there is no unneeded duplication and people get the same content.
It is a bit more work, but gives me the chance to actually think about what and if I want to boost something at all.
It’s in my recommended accounts on my mastodon profile as well.
Pro tip: add ?remote_follow=1 to your micro.blog profile URL and you see the activityPub address and get a form to subscribe.
@maique you need to open that last link in a browser though. Opening it in-app doesn’t work as well.
