@jean It really is. My kids really enjoyed watching, especially cause they know it’s me taking off and not just somebody in a plane like I fly. My daughter says I’m a
YouTube Star now.

@jmreekes Curious. Are you a private plane pilot? Do you fly for yourself or for someone else?

@jmreekes Same for me! I don’t watch random airport videos, but on this one I was like “ I know that guy from work!”

@pratik Yea, I fly private jets for a living. I work for NetJets Aviation which operates private jets on a fractional ownership model, basically a time-share for private jets without a lot of the time-share restrictions. We have 450ish jets on our U.S. operating certificate

@pratik We have two sister companies. Executive Jet Management or EJM, which is an aircraft management company. Somebody wholly owns the plane and EJM manages it for them (crew, insurance, maintenance, charters, etc). NetJets Europe is our European division for fractional ownership

@pratik This past winter, NJE sent some airplanes to the Caribbean to help out NJUS during our peak busy period, and we are returning the favor this summer which is our slower period and NJE’s busy period. That’s how I was able to fly around Europe 3 weeks ago

@pratik All together, between the 3 companies have access to 800+ jets. We are continually adding jets to our certificates and will probably have close to 500 jets just on our NetJets US certificate by the end of 2022

@pratik NJE has been carbon neutral since 2012 and NJUS is working towards carbon neutrality. All of our US training and administration flights are carbon offset and we offer programs for our owners/clients to purchase offsets for their flights

@pratik NetJets has also invested in WasteFuel, a sustainable aviation fuel or SAF producer and has committed to purchasing at least 100 million gallons of SAF over the next 10 years

@maique I thought so as well. I remember seeing someone filming as we were backtracking (taxiing on the runway instead of a taxiway) on the runway for the take off. The captain did the taxiing but I took over once we were lined up for departure

@jmreekes Thanks for that detailed explanation. Must be really cool. I’ll keep you in mind if I have any jet needs 😎

@vincent I agree. Then again, I might be a little biased.
