Luna: oh shit!

She used it in the right context, how can I get mad at her? 😅

@Gaby Hahaha, you have the right attitude imo 😉 Once I was teaching grade 4s and they were supposed to be going out to play a game, but apparently one of them had forgotten to put her lunchbox away first… which I found out when she cried, “OH SHIT! MY LUNCHBOX!” and bolted. Her friends turned straight to me with deer-in-headlights looks… but I’m not going to punish normal language use 😅 So they were very relieved when I said, “I’m just gonna pretend I didn’t hear that…”

@jayeless to me is not the word, is how they use it. As long as they don’t use a specific word to denigrate or offend, I don’t care.

@Gaby @jayeless I volunteered as an instructor a couple summers at Girls Rock Camp. At orientation, they told us if we swore during instruction (or more likely shifting equipment), to just say three things that would distract the kids. Suggested: “pizza, stickers, Justin Bieber.” Probably been updated in the meantime. 😏

@Gaby We do the same here for our kids (6 and 4 years old). As you said, swear words are just words and the intention and context of them is much more important than the words themselves.
