@rich\_text the things I keep coming back to: (1) the TVs at airports (hobbled by content that appeals to no one), (2) the way my dad (and zillions of others I’m sure) would leave the Weather Channel or a PGA tournament on a muted den TV all day, on the weekends, (3) (and this is the weird/abstract one) the sense of "connectedness” I had, walking around Cambridge, MA one afternoon while a Red Sox game was live. Duck into a deli, there's the game on the corner TV. 5 minutes later, walk past a pub with the game on 2 outdoor TVs. We were on a self-guided walking tour of the whole area, but the game was ever-present. I'm not a big sports-ster but that was neat.
