I enjoy reading Ben Thompson’s Stratechery every day, and I’m always nodding along, but I think his take on Meta and content moderation is off the mark. The web is the open platform where nearly any speech is allowed. Platforms like Threads need to tread more carefully because of their power to influence.

@manton I agree. I wish he had addressed the amplification problem. Not blocking content is one thing; not amplifying is more important

@manton Ben's always been very pro Facebook/Meta, and indeed very pro advertising, including most of modern adtech. He's bright, and often has good analyses, but in certain areas, like this one, I find him fairly obnoxious.
