I also don’t think that I need two of them. I’ll buy one Sonos One. Some reviews worry me but I can’t believe that Apple HomePod is twice as good (and it’s twice as expensive). I do worry in general about connectivity issues as even my AppleTV streaming is finicky.

@jacob I have a couple of the older Play 1 Sonos speakers and I love them. The HomePod sounds great but Sonos wins for me due to the number of third party services you can connect.

@stefp yeah. What I’ll do is order one Sonos One (gen 2) from amazon. Half the price of Apple HomePod and has more options and the sound is fine for my needs. Will also give me another option for a voice assistant. Siri is quite limited at the moment compared to Google and Alexa.

@jacob Have you considered the Sonos Symfonisk?

@odd I haven’t as I didn’t know about it. Looks sleek really, but I think I’ll go with the One. For the smart assistant and better sound and probably more future proof too. Thanks for the suggestion. Always good to know the alternatives. The price difference is only $50CAD right now, so that’s another aspect.

@jacob I have an old Sonos Play:1, and I’m quite happy with the sound on that one. If I was going to replace it, it would be with another Sonos, not the HomePod…

@odd I came to the same conclusion. Thanks for another vote of confidence.

@jacob Sonos Play:1 (and One by extension) are solid solo bookshelf speakers, but for focused listening IMHO you definitely want a stereo pair: The improvement is dramatic. Adjust for your use case.
