@manton I have been looking forward to this from the moment I figured out how cross-posting worked. Thank you!
@manton That is probably going to make a lot of people happy. I welcome it with open arms myself. 😃👍🪄✨
@manton woo hoo! Much thanks for including this feature. So now you can connect to say, Mastodon in the Feeds page but only syndicate it when you check the box when you post on Micro.blog?
@manton Am I just stupid but I can't see how to turn that on. Is it not available for self hosted?
@msroest I guess not, unless I’ve misunderstood what @manton has written here : www.manton.org/2023/02/2...
"This is for blogs hosted on Micro.blog. If you are posting to an external blog like WordPress, there’s no mechanism to customize cross-posting other than the existing global options."
As for me, being hosted on micro.blog, I applaud the arrival of such a function that, like many, I was looking forward to. Thank you very much, @manton , your platform is getting better every day!
@paulrobertlloyd Right. The Mac app does use syndicate-to, though! Haven’t tested with external blogs yet… I think it needs improving in a bug fix update because the posting code is a little different.
@manton Clarification: if the cross-posting is enabled and we post from the iOS app, will it be cross-posted especially since there’s no way to uncheck the option on the app?
@pratik Yes. Posting from an app that doesn’t have a setting for this yet will assume the post should go to all services enabled for your feeds.
@manton oh, now this could be interesting… neat add. When the mobile app gets updated, should be in a decent space w/content to play with this
@manton Thanks for the clarification. Since I use the iOS app often, I'll disable the crossposting for now lest I accidentally share posts. Is it possible to uncheck the boxes by default and allow us to cross-post by actively checking the box?
@pratik I think keeping them checked is still the best default for most people, and consistent with the old behavior. Will reevaluate after more people use it, though,
@manton Fair enough. Personally, I am more comfortable with not crossposting than accidentally crossposting when I didn't want to.
@manton @help Probably a bug or just something that shouldn't display in the UI, but it does.
As I mentioned, I enabled cross-posting and activating Mastodon and Flickr after you introduced the new feature to try it out. I disabled cross-posting a day later. But on the 'New Post' screen, if I toggle on the 'Show cross-posting, it still shows both Mastodon and Flickr boxes checked. I assuming nothing will cross-posting since the crossposting is disabled in the Settings > Feeds page.
