@manton Imagine if the Twitter archive importer added ID attributes to each div.tweet with the numeric tweet ID, so Tweets pages could serve new permalinks for old tweets.

Each twitter.com/account/status/ID would have a corresponding account.micro.blog/tweets/#ID that you could cite and link to.

@infotexture Micro.blog does keep the tweet ID and uses it for the new imported URLs. Right now the URLs also have the date so they aren't as short, though. We could make the tweet ID available to themes to allow more customization.

@manton Ah, sorry — we’re talking about 2 different pages. 🤦🏼

I was looking at my account.micro.blog/tweets/ page, which links each tweet back to Twitter, but doesn’t show these micro.blog links.

Now that you mention it, I see they’re behind the date links at account-tweets.micro.blog.

Didn’t realize the same content appears in 2 different places.

@infotexture Yeah, it's a little unusual in that the /tweets page is a kind of lightweight front end for the "real" tweets storage which is as a separate blog. That way it can feel integrated into your site. I bet we could do what you're talking about maybe with a little clever JavaScript to look up direct links to tweet IDs.

@manton Got it. Makes sense. Still figuring out how all this works.

Thanks for building this! 🙏
