I recorded a quick video on YouTube of a new way to have photo accessibility descriptions generated for you. There are a lot of different ways to manage photos in Micro.blog, but this flow is working well for me on the Mac side. Of course if you have AI disabled, it’ll skip this.
@manton Woah are you proposing this from micro.blog? I still don’t know how the ATProto actually works but I keep seeing things that make me go “woah cool” which sure hasn’t happened with fediverse features for a minute now (as much as I wish it would!)

@alexcoxfm.bsky.social Yeah, ATProto does so many things that I feel I’ve only scratched the surface with it. Right now, when I post to Micro.blog it copies it to Bluesky (also for replies back and forth). But there’s more I’d love to experiment with.
@manton Even though we differ on AI, I do appreciate the thoughtful way in which you continue to add AI features to Micro.blog without forcing them down everyone’s throats. So, thanks!
@manton Nice! A bit off-topic: is there any reason to why the image upload button isn’t available when editing a post on the web?
@manton Great! I would find it useful when publishing via iA Writer and wanting to include an image.
@manton Personally I like that it auto-uploads and spits in the alt text. I’d like it that way on iOS as well rather than having to copy and paste the text into the field. But I’m sure there’s good reasons to not to do that as well.
@iChris Thanks. I agree the copy/paste is clunky. I was worried about the AI-generated text feeling too in your face, but in practice it’s just nicer to start with that text and edit it.
@manton I think for normal folks, it probably doesn’t even feel like “AI CHATGPT”, it’s just a thing Micro.blog does to help them describe their photo.
