@jayeless Great article, thanks for bringing attention to it. I didn't know this was used. Being non-native English speaker, I guess I was taught the rules, but I honestly always went at it by feeling.
@jayeless very interesting! I’m not a native speaker and I forgot most if not all the grammar I learned in school, but I always just used English the way I think sounds right, whether it is „correct" or not. I basically learned English by watching TV, listening to music, reading and it’s probably also impacted by all the Podcasts I listen too, which are 99.9% English.

I'm sure my grasp of my second language (Spanish) isn't as strong as you guys' of English, but I have definitely also noticed that after a certain point, hearing/reading/using the language constantly and internalising the patterns is more how you improve than explicitly studying rules. I'm sure it results in a more natural mental model of the language, too, as you get a kind of gut feel for what sounds right or wrong, like natives have.
