It’s amazing how many things we worry about that don’t actually matter.
@manton If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say that most of us are happy with our distractions instead of dealing with the existential dread of reality. And Capitalism is wholly on board with helping us do that. Feeding the insatiable bloodlust of the 1% is, as you know, ever so critical to a thriving society.
@manton It often takes age and experience to realise how little actually does matter. 😅
@manton in the sort of transition away from the sort of outrage maximizing algorithmic "social" media to small/personal/social web alternatives such as micro.blog I have started to fully realize this. So many things that I thought mattered intensely do not matter at all in actuality.
@manton That is why meditation was invented. We usually think fast and shallow, so contemplating one or two occurrences in a day is good practice, thinking slow and deep. Is also good for your blood pressure, since you calm down in order to start meditating.
@manton and how many things that really matter but we don’t worry about at all.
