I love Drafts.
@donovanwatts it took me a really long time to find the right use cases for Drafts, but I agree with that sentiment now.
@jthingelstad @donavanwatts and crucially it only keeps getting better. Testing the new beta there is inter-note linking which is an awesome feature to build your own Zettelkasten - you know if that's also a thing you want to use it for. So good.
@kaa @jthingelstad ooh, inter-note linking sounds great. I’ve finally put enough energy into setting up workspaces and various settings that it all really came together for me recently.
@donovanwatts my primary love of Drafts comes from it's very capable support of automation with Shortcuts and powerful Workspaces.
@donovanwatts Same!! It's one of the first apps I install on new devices. It's the app I use the most throughout the day.
@greghiggins me too. Having Drafts in all my devices makes it so easy to jot anything down and know I can always get to it. What is the 2nd thing you install?
@jthingelstad how many workspaces do you have? Care to share more about them and how you have organized them? I appreciate learning how others approach that.
@donovanwatts I know you weren’t asking me but I personally have 4 workspaces. I use templates too. Especially for my sports stuff because the format is similar.
@greghiggins I now have six workspaces. I try to keep it minimal but I’m happy with six. What is this about templates? I didn’t know Drafts has templates.
@donovanwatts Yes. It's a new feature. You can create a draft with tags, etc. And if you put template as one of the tags, it'll allow you to access it later. Here's the link: actions.getdrafts.com/a/1VL
@donovanwatts I don't use TextExpander. I use iOS keyboard shortcuts instead.
@greghiggins Thanks for making me aware of Drafts templates. I'll be putting that to use immediately.
@donovanwatts It's one of my favorite features I use everyday. It's really handy if you have meetings or something where the format is basically the same. If you put [[date|%A, %B %d]], it'll automtically add today's date when you run the template. There are other things like that you can do (time, etc)
@greghiggins ooh, great tip. thanks for that. i'll give it a go. I use Drafts to capture meeting notes all day long.
@donovanwatts I do lots of different things with the templates. One thing (since I cover high school sports), is I created a Markdown table to show the scores easily. You could do something similar with meeting attendees, etc. Just a thought.
@greghiggins interesting idea to use a table. often for attendees i do an @ tag of their name. for repeat offenders i create an actual tag.
@donovanwatts That's a good idea. I've seen people use a table first column employees, 2nd column customer attendees, etc....
