It’s interesting to see the replies to Gabriel Santiago’s post, in which a group of iOS users are strongly requesting a feature for Micro.blog. Does the web app not work on iOS? Or is the app-centric model so strong that people forget, or never even think, about workarounds?

@simonwoods Good point. I use the app on iPad for most things but I've got /discover/books bookmarked in Safari because it's not always easily accessible from the app. And it does seem to be possible to edit posts from Safari on iPad, though I haven't tried to do it.

@simonwoods Editing posts from the web version on iOS definitely works. The user experience isn't as good as a native app but it's completely functional.

@simonwoods Why should I have to use the web on my iPad for this one thing? Further, in my opinion one thing that sets blogs apart from social networks is that you can edit what you write. Along those lines, I think editing should be a base feature of all micro blog apps.

@frankm That's not what I was talking about but OK.

@manton Sounds about right. I guess it's an Apple/non-Apple dynamic at play; even the word "app" is still weird to me whenever we talk about these programs, heh.

@artkavanagh I'm totally onboard with making the apps the best they can be. I think it's also good for those of us who are using Micro.blog to remember that when Manton and co. talk about "the web", and specifically its utility and importance therin, they're not just trying to leverage an interesting idea to manipulate people; rather, they mean it.
