@baldur I think this is on the right track but misses the reason scrolling is preferred. We are spatial beings and it’s much easier to grasp where things are in relation to each other on a single page. Even if you scroll to do it. Clicking takes you to some jarring new place.
@baldur Our human craving for a spatial anchor also explains why so many people dislike parallax scrolling effects. Some even find such movement to be nauseating.
@baldur I fear that this logic is going to open floodgates for infinite scrolling (which I think fails the spatial anchor test @fgtech mentions, because you never know where you are for long…) :-( And in some cases, the decision to click means you decide not to click and stop doing X, versus continuing ad infinitum with, well, infinite scrolling.
Both ways can be used for good or evil.
