Four-spotted Chaser at Ardinning on Friday
@johnjohnston «Øyenstikker», (eye-poker) in Norwegian. I remember being in a pond when I was little, and they’d fly right overhead, and I thought they’d poke my eyes out. 👀
@odd dragonfly is a much better name 😂
@odd @hjertnes I love hearing different names for creatures and flowers (and the english translation).
Also Devil's darning needle
@johnjohnston We call the Crane fly “Mygghank” (mygg=mosquito). “-hank”=??? “Handle”? I read they’ve found 4-5000 year old (dead) crane flies inside the pyramids.
@johnjohnston Great photo! I know how hard it is to catch one sitting still long enough to capture its image.
