Best time to get off proton is when they narced on people despite being a "privacy" service. Next best time is now.

@todd What are some privacy focused alternatives? I’ve been using mail and drive for years. I’ve started slowly migrating to their password manager.

@jabel I hear good things about Tuta, Mailbox, and Startmail.

But to be frank, if I want to have an actually private conversation, I do that on Signal and don't trust email and it's decentralized-and-hard-to-enforce-well nature.

I use Fastmail myself.

@jabel not Todd but I guess that depends on what your definition of “privacy focused” means. Fastmail is great. It is not end-to-end encrypted but it’s one of the best computing-related things I’ve paid for bar none.
