Compared the transcript from Apple Podcasts with the transcript we generate in Micro.blog using GPT. They’re both good, but ours is nearly flawless, while Apple Podcasts has a few minor mistakes.

It’s great that apps have transcripts. I still want to control this and have my own (editable) copy.

@manton I love that my podcast episodes here have transcripts.

@manton Does the Micro.blog one provide word-level timing? Been interested to see how things like Apple Podcasts and now Overcast will do with feed-provided transcripts.

@jarrod No, currently the Micro.blog one is purely on the web. No syncing / read along. But Overcast is going to support external transcripts. I don’t think this works in the latest beta, but we’ll support it.

@lukebouch We’re still using an older model, gpt-4o-transcribe. It’s excellent so I haven’t bumped it to GPT-5 yet. I’ll do that when I have time for testing.
