@manton It’s an interesting time right now for Apple and their position as a dominant platform, especially on mobile. On the one hand, I trust Apple more than other companies with privacy and my data. On the other, I think Apple has gone too far with lock in and prioritizing their own profits and dominance over what’s best for consumers and the ecosystem.
It’s feeling to me that the best outcome here might be that LLMs become a commodity and operating systems/platforms allow you to swap out your models with ease. Then you aren’t locked in to an OS or a model provider. But I think all the companies involved, including Apple, are trying hard to avoid this open ecosystem.
